This 2007 Liberty XL is unique as it represents the 'fun of flying' for our outreach efforts. Her engine is a fuel injected FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) equipped Continental IOF-240–B driving an MT composite propeller. Lady is not your usual airplane. She has dual control sticks, finger brakes - no toe brakes - ”gull wing” doors and a two-seat sporty look! No! She is not experimental. Lady is a well-equipped instrument certified normal category bird. Only about 130 of this airframe was manufactured by Liberty Aerospace, before they shut their doors.
One of the best high performance piston aircraft ever built, this 1991 Beechcraft Bonanza F33A carries a bit more hp than the Liberty and useful load. The Bonanza is great for cross country trips, work and family travel. Her tip tanks give extra range and her upgraded Continental IO-550 engine gets her off the ground and on a steady climb so you can get from A to B efficiently. This aircraft performs so well, multiple circumnavigators choose the airframe for their global flight missions.
No other aircraft to us matches the Grand Dame, the Douglas DC-3. Impeccable peformance, virsatility and strength, this vintage airframe was instrumental in ending WWII, flew cargo and supplies during the Berlin Airlift, not to mention, changed the way we experience air travel today. Each aircraft manufactured has a piece of the DC-3. With her maiden flight December 17, 1935, more than 200 DC-3s still fly and operate around the world today.
